In true fire element form, Blessed Ember was born out of a passion to bring the power and magic of smoke cleansing to the anyone who has ever sought a shift in energy or consciousness. We deliberately try to limit our use of the word "smudging" as much as we can for a few reasons, but mainly because "smudging," a distinct ritual born of sacred Native American tradition, isn’t what smoke cleansing is or should be for those of us not of Native American descent. Same with the Irish ritual, "saining."
We respect the traditions of indigenous people who came before us, while incorporating sacred smoke into our modern lives in ways that make sense for us as individuals.
Smoke cleansing is unique to all who include it in their self-care practices, and there really is no right or wrong way to do it. Setting your intention and learning from what comes up during the process is far more important than the ritual itself.
